I've been using Seachem but I'm interested in a more cost effective option (without making them myself). Web19 Jan 2011 · I have used all of the Seachem ferts (at well above the recommended dose), Rootmedic root tabs, and a variety of dry ferts and never had any issues with my inverts (amano shrimp, Cherry Red, Red Crystal, Ghost, and a blue 'lobster').

Web27 Aug 2024 · From what I can gather most root tabs are made from Osmocote. The outer pill type layer dissolves pretty rapidly leaving the Osmocote in situ to do its stuff. On the rare occasion that I use Osmocote I tend to use the 12-14 month slow release version. I just chuck a small handful in with the substrate. They do offer a ferts as well but tropica is far better in my opinion. All are shrimp and snail safe bar some caradina shrimp which need specific tds levels which ferts can raise (but people have successfully used them with these shrimp as well).
