As of ubuntu 20.04 LTS, it might cause problems, I have tried mining on my Core i3 5th gen with ubuntu installed, when CPU usage hits 99-100%, ubuntu start lagging afterwards, even if cpu usage drops to 70-80%. Plus they use general driver for cpu, which also drop the hashrates.
